With the economic and social development, water pollution incidents emerge one after another, and separation membrane is an effective technical means to solve this problem. Recently, the functional membrane team of the Polymer Division of the Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences designed and synthesized an antibacterial polymer hollow fiber membrane.
Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is a polymer film material with excellent comprehensive properties. The use of PVDF hollow fiber membranes has been widely used in household water purification systems, sewage treatment, seawater desalination and other fields. Membrane fouling caused by microorganisms such as organic matter and bacteria is the number one natural enemy in the application of membrane materials. Therefore, it is of great practical significance to prepare a hollow fiber membrane having antibacterial properties.
Recently, the functional membrane team of the Polymer Division of the Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences designed and synthesized the antibacterial polymer hollow fiber membrane. Firstly, the silver-loaded molecular sieve containing 9.7% of silver was prepared by ion exchange method. Existing research basis (non-solvent-induced auxiliary thermal phase separation method for the preparation of bicontinuous structure PVDF membranes, related series of research work has been published in the journal of the film field UltrasonicsSonochemistry, 2013, 20, 232-238, Desalination2013, 316, 137-145, Desalination2012 , 298, 99–105.), by comparing the structure and properties of the membrane prepared by different solvents, selecting a suitable proportion of mixed solvent, using dry spray-wet spinning method to prepare PVDF hollow fiber membrane with antibacterial properties, prepared by The surface of the antibacterial membrane is porous, and the support structure under the cortex is a finger-shaped macropores, which is beneficial to reduce the resistance when water passes through, and the silver-loaded molecular sieve is uniformly distributed in the membrane, and the membrane does not lose the pure water flux and mechanical strength. Next, it has a good resistance to the adhesion of bacteria.
Related research work was published in the journal International Journal of Membrane Science, and applied for a national invention patent (201110454499.X). The research was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (51273211) and the National 863 Research Program (2012AA03A605).
