Jinjiang Umbrella Factory Fire Explosion Printing and Dyeing Workshop

At 1 pm on August 4, an umbrella factory in Yaoqian Village, Anhai Town, Jinjiang City, Fujian Province, was exposed to fire in a printing and dyeing workshop. Many barrels of water and other chemical materials exploded. After receiving an alarm, the Anhai Fire Squadron of Jinjiang quickly mobilized 10 fire engines and 45 firefighters to the scene. After more than two hours of fighting, they managed to handle dangerous situations without any casualties.

When the firefighters arrived, the printing and dyeing workshop on the first floor of the factory had fallen into a sea of ​​fire. The air was filled with a pungent smell of chemicals and the fire continued to spread. According to on-site workers, there are 4 barrels of water in the workshop, weighing 180 kg per barrel. There are also a barrel of ethyl butanol and xanthone, each of which is 180 kg. Both are flammable and explosive. Fortunately, when the fire broke out, everyone was off work and no one was in the workshop.

Just as the firefighters prepared to fight forward, a fierce explosion occurred in the fire and the fire tongue rushed out of the shop's doors and windows by ten meters. Firefighters used foam water guns to control the fire. But soon, two explosions took place successively on the site, and all the window glass in the workshop was shattered. In order to prevent the fire from expanding, firefighters added another mobile water cannon to suppress the fire.

After an hour of hard work, the open flame was basically extinguished. Subsequently, the firefighters cleaned up the remaining small fire. About 3:20 yesterday, the danger was completely ruled out. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
