swingset skirt panelist: brienne from handmade by brienne

We’ve got an exciting “Meet the Panel” series lined up for you over on the blog this week. Each day, we’ll be highlighting one of our six Swingset Skirt sew-along participants. They’ll be sharing the fabrics they’ve chosen and discussing their ideas for their skirts. I think you’ll enjoy seeing the creative fabric selections made by these talented sewing enthusiasts. To kick things off, let’s meet Brienne, who recently shared her brilliant iron-on tutorial. She’s back, and here she is! --- ![Brienne's plans for an Oliver + S Swingset Skirt](#) *Inspiration image source* Hi everyone! My name is Brienne, and I spend my time creating handmade clothing and accessories for my two little ones. I occasionally share my projects on my blog, [Handmade by Brienne](#), and love posting updates about my crafting journey on Instagram. Follow along if you'd like to see more of what I’m working on. I’m thrilled to be part of this sew-along panel, especially since I adore the craftsmanship and attention to detail found in Oliver + S patterns. Their designs often serve as my go-to resource when I’m trying to master a new sewing technique. For instance, my kids wear quite a lot of handmade items, including the ever-popular Playtime Leggings and School Bus T-shirt. Now, I’m excited to try my hand at the Swingset Skirt. For this project, I’ll be sticking closely to the pattern as written, but I might add some tassels to the drawstring. Since I prefer a skirt with movement rather than stiffness, I chose a fabric with great drape and texture. I found this beautiful printed dress on clearance at Target—its weight and color palette reminded me of the stunning tones in this image from Sweet Paul. Living in Minnesota means we’re outdoors year-round, no matter the weather. As winter approaches, I know the skirt will need some extra layers to keep cozy. So, I’ve paired it with some leggings and even considered adding a sweater for added warmth. I’m really looking forward to seeing what the other panelists create and hearing your thoughts.
